Jill Leitner - Garden of Hope

discover and deal with root issues. The foundation of our program is the Genesis Process and a 12 step program.

Where do you live? Gresham, Oregon.

Why your business? I am passionate to provide life-changing recovery solutions to women who suffer with addiction in order for them to become successful in life.

What’s your next step in business? Ministry launch in November and sustainability!

What’s one big personal intention for 2010? To grow in the practice of the presence of God in my life.

What’s your biggest pet peeve? Not picking up after yourself!

What’s the best vacation you ever took? Italy in 2007. It was a tremendous experience to personally see artifacts of world history.

Where would you like to go that you haven’t yet? Greece and Russia!

Any non-profits or charity you support? My Father’s House, a homeless family shelter in Gresham; Mission Teams of youth; Micro-lending in Nicaragua and my church.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years? Witnessing many women experience healing, restoration and giving back as they live lives of recovery.

What’s one surprising fact about you? I just experienced Crater Lake this summer and I have lived in Oregon most of my life!

What’s the most important thing you want people to know about you? My life has been a journey that I did not choose but grateful for the experiences for how they have helped to shape who I am today.

Any secret crushes? George Clooney

Tell us what life recovery means to you: Daily pursuit of learning to live life differently than what was laid in ones foundation or as a reaction to what life has handed one.

Share with us a life recovery experience so that others may be inspired:
A small portion of my co-founders story of redemption and healing. “The Genesis Process enabled me to move out of the addiction cycle. It gave me hope, of which I had none. I was so filled with shame from the addiction, that I didn’t feel worthy of freedom or love. I was given the tools I needed to prevent relapse. I quit trying to do it on my own and allowed God to begin His healing. I found lasting freedom from my destructive and abusive behaviors I used to cope with. I was given a whole new life!” ~ Janene Soderquist

Woman In Business Profile – Jenn Savage

24 Aug
What is your business: A Heart Centered Life – A Heart Centered Healing and Coaching practice that supports women who are exhausted from trying to hold it all together and who are afraid if they stop things will all fall to pieces.

Where do you live? NE Portland (Though we are in the process of looking for a new place right now!)

Why your business? So many women I know feel overwhelmed by the responsibilities of juggling work, family and home. In that busy-ness, self care is often put at the bottom of the priority list, and women live in painfully imbalanced states. I am passionate about helping women reconnect to the inner wisdom of their deep heart so they can “Remember” that there is a place within themselves they can access which leads to living more balanced and fulfilling lives.

What’s your next step in business? Networking, and growing my private practice into a thriving business which offers workshops and retreats for women who are ready to take the next step in their self care, and who want to live more heart centered lives.

Who is your ideal client? Spiritually attuned women who chronically have too much on their plate, and who are ready to regain a sense of balance in their lives.

What’s one big personal intention for 2010? To open myself up more fully to the dream I have of growing my business – and to remember to take care of myself as I do so! 🙂 More concretely, I hope to have my new website completed, and I’d love to teach at least one class, if not more.

What’s your biggest pet peeve? Ignorance. It is hard for me to be around anyone who is not willing to be compassionate towards another, simply because they have a different world view. Though when I am, it provides me with an opportunity to practice not being ignorant to those who aren’t able to see anothers point of view. I always try to practice what I teach.

What’s the best vacation you ever took? I lived in Europe for almost 6 months and it was, hands down, the best 6 months of my life.

Where would you like to go that you haven’t yet? Morocco.

Any non-profits or charity you support? I donate to my spiritual community which supports a variety of charities all over the world. I am also a member of OPB and fully support the mission of KIVA.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years? Living somewhere sunny and close to the ocean, running a thriving business that is helping women remember the importance of their connection to the Divine and the wisdom in their hearts, and a New York Times best selling author.

What’s one surprising fact about you? When I have time, I obsessively read suspenseful mysteries.

What’s the most important thing you want people to know about you? That they can count on me.

Any secret crushes? Angelina Jolie.

Any final comments? It’s an honor to be profiled here, and I look forward to getting to know more women here in the Portland area.

Awakening Business Solutions

Kaya Singer - Business Coach

What is your business?  Awakening Business Solutions – helping solo-business owners to clear their focus and grow their business.  http://www.awakeningbusiness.com

Where do you live? Portland

Why your business? My business mission is to empower my clients to develop a clear focused business, and as a result, fulfill their own promise of financial  success and purpose. By  helping them to strengthen their small business, they can then, in turn make a difference in their own community.

What’s your next step in business?  My big next step involves  developing a new business model that will allow me to bring in  team members to help grow the business to the next level.  The two  next programs involve, one, growing my membership site- The Awake Business TeaHouse awaketeahouse.com as this is providing a community for solo business owners to share and receive support.  To me it is all about community. The other one  involves funneling more clients into my tele-seminars. I love working with my one-on-one clients, however again, I love the facilitating interaction between people and seeing people grow through working together. My Awaken Your Money Stream: 7 Steps to Building Your Niche Market is offered three times a year and I would love to see each one full!

What’s one big personal intention for 2010?  I have organized a beach trip with a group of women friends in October.  I plan to also do weekend beach trips for women entrepreneurs to have fun together and also have a weekend of working on our businesses creatively with the ocean energy supporting it.

What’s your biggest pet peeve? Negative thinking and putting out complaining messages.  I do get the paper because I like reading Stone Soup and doing the crossword puzzle everyday, but I don’t like the constant bad news focus.

What’s the best vacation you ever took?  We had many wonderful vacations in New Zealand while we lived there, but probably walking the Abel Tasman Track with my husband and son, camping on the beach, making sand castles and loving the beauty of the land.

Where would you like to go that you haven’t yet?   Italy and Greece

Any non-profits or charity you support?   Dress for Success

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?  Living 2-3 months in New Zealand every year and running my business from there.  Oregon the remainder of the year. ( I would move back there if my  boy would come:)

What’s one surprising fact about you?  I am motivated by “fun.”  In the Color Code (colorcode.com) I am a yellow. I think people would be surprised  because i am so focused on my business now and somewhat driven.  However I wasn’t always this way. I have always put life adventure first.

What’s the most important thing you want people to know about you? I have a strong positive optimistic nature and I believe that  anyone can succeed at anything as long as they are willing to do what it takes. I have made a lot of mistakes and just learned from them and kept going.  I have so appreciated every person who has been there offering me support.

Any secret crushes?   No secrets at all. I am happily married and have no time for anyone else 🙂

Tell us what life recovery means to you:  It means knowing my power is always in the present moment.

Share with us a life recovery experience so that others may be inspired:  My father was very strong willed and had his own beliefs that he projected on to me when I was growing up. I felt stifled and  misunderstood and for years did not forgive him, however he got cancer when I was 35 and died in 6 months. I grabbed the power of the moment and on his death bed I asked him to be there for me when I died. He wasn’t sure about life after death but he said he would if he could. In his own way he also apologized and said he had made some mistakes that he regretted. After he died I felt I had no unfinished issues with him at all.

Any final comments?  I would love writing and love that my books and article help people. It is so gratifying when I get that feedback. I know I will be writing another book that is the sequel to “CLear Your Focus Grow Your Business,” but not sure what it will be yet.  My husband and I created two mandala coloring books and we are getting ready to re-print them!  Fun.
